US Export Compliance Briefing

Trying to keep up to date with export control developments in the USA is becoming an increasingly vital matter for many within Industry. Given the complexity of the US regulations, and the nature of the US system’s re-export controls, which impact on any non-US companies seeking to have access to or export anything containing controlled US goods or technology, and the extreme severity of the punishments imposed on firms who infringe US export control regulations, it is vital to know whether you are affected by the US regulations, and, if so, how you go about meeting your regulatory responsibilities under them.
The Export Group for Aerospace & Defence (EGAD), the dedicated national industrial body dealing with export control issues, is organizing a FREE briefing for Industry on US export control compliance matters. This follows on from the success of the activities at the Farnborough Airshow 2008, to assist the US Government in its "outreach" activities on US export control compliance awareness.
As with the last event, we have arranged, courtesy of the very generous offer from BAE Systems to host the event, for this year's proposed briefing also to be provided FREE to participants, with some other sponsors and EGAD Members agreeing to cover the airfare costs to bring over the three US Government speakers intended to participate, comprising of representatives from the Bureau of Industry & Security (BIS), at the US Department of Commerce, the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), at the US Department of State and the Defense Technology Security Administration (DTSA), at the US Department of Defense.
This briefing should assist the US Government in its outreach activities in the UK, be in support of the MoD(UK)'s activities to spread awareness throughout UK Industry of the proposed US/UK Defense Cooperation Treaty, and help our companies (and all Airshow exhibitors/attendees) to have a better understanding of the US regulations.
As already stated, attendance at this briefing will be FREE . However, in order to encourage attendance by those who book places, please note that, as stated on the form, there is a £100 per person RETURNABLE registration fee, which should accompany bookings - those who attend will be handed their deposit back on arrival, whilst those who book, but do not attend without notifying us By 14 JULY 2010 , will forfeit their monies. Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Attached is the application form to attend the briefing.
