technical standards

The preparation of Standards in the AS, AGS and ESC series is part of a continuous program of standardisation managed by the Technical Standards Committee of the Society.

SBAC Standards are published as part of a series of SBAC Aerospace Industry Standards and, where appropriate, additional manufacturing and inspection requirements are issued as Reference Sheets (RS) or Technical Specifications (TS).

Please note that SBAC itself does not produce or distribute aerospace components. However, SBAC does maintain a list of qualified manufacturers for SBAC Aerospace Industry Standard Parts - see link to document TS200 below.

The following standards are available for direct download:

QUAL Form 3 Manufacturing Change Request (96.0 KB)
QUAL Form 2 Summary of Application (87.0 KB)
QUAL Form 1 Application for Product Certification (84.5 KB)
TS Index of Technical Specifications (514.0 KB)
TS201 and TS202 Synopsis (9.5 KB)
TS200 - Qualified Manufacturers for SBAC Aerospace Industry Standard Parts (230.4 KB)
TS96 - Metallic Materials - Tables of Similar Material Specifications (1.6 MB)
TS95 - SBAC Recommendations for Metallic Materials (1.1 MB)

Aerospace Sector Certification Scheme

TS157 Aerospace Sector Certification Scheme (ASCS) Requirements and Procedure & TS163 Aerospace Sector Certification Scheme (ASCS) Authentication of Aerospace Experience have been superseded by the UK Standard Operating Procedure for the ASCS program. The does not require a standard to govern this as the UK CBMC (governing committee) has invoked AS/prEN/JISQ 9104 directly. The UK SOP describes the interpretation of 9104.

Technical Standards - Disclaimer

The SBAC or representatives accept no responsibility for the continued quality of hardware items produced against the relevant drawings and specifications; this responsibility remains with the user. Whilst the SBAC takes all reasonable care in the preparation of all standards, neither the SBAC, its officers, employees, servants, agents or representatives shall have any responsibility or liability whatsoever with respect to any act or omission (whether negligent or not) of whatsoever nature of, or in connection with, the preparation of the Standards or any part thereof and all and any such liabilities is herby excluded.

SBAC Standards may be changed from time to time, and both users and manufacturers of these parts should ensure that they are in possession of the latest issue of the Standards and supporting documentation before adoption or the commencement of production. Each Standard sheet in the series is a photographic reproduction of a master drawing and references to scales are not necessarily correct. A master Index to all of these Standards is published separately.

All reference to Standards include reference to RS and TS publications

A master index and further information can be obtained from the Society.

New Standard Operating Procedures for ASCS

This document contains the mandatory requirements for implementing EN9104 within the UK scheme for certification to the Aerospace Quality Management System series of standards. It comes into operation on 1 September 2005. It clarifies and supplements AS/EN/JISQ 9104 and must be used in conjunction with that standard. It replaces TS 157 (Issue 5) and TS 163 (Issue 5) on the 1st September 2005. This document is not to be referenced on scheme certificates issued by CRBs.
